CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: There was a cold breeze around Reykjavik, but as soon as we left the harbour, the wind and the sea calmed down, making it easier to spot anything in the bay! When sailing out in the bay, we first spotted a pair of harbour porpoises, a mother and a juvenile swimming around. After, going more far out in the bay, we spotted a dorsal fin, that belonged to a minke whale! It was great to see it so predictably in the beginning, but then it disappeared. So we continued and spotted another one, amongst the many Atlantic puffins. But we got distracted when we spotted a big blow in the distance and we decided to check it out. It was a very chill humpback whale, going for many shallow dives and even coming close to the boat. This allowed us to have a good look of its long pectoral fins and even hear the blow! We left this one and going back to Reykjavik, we spotted a couple of dorsal fins speeding up in the distance. We ended up encountering about 20 white-beaked dolphins, including a calf with its mom! What a great encounter, especially when they came very close! We came back home very happy to see our 4 main species seen during the summer.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: As we sailed out into the lovely bay we were met with light rain and a slight breeze in our faces. After about 45 minutes of sailing, we spotted a lone minke whale who surfaced quickly. We had spotted a blow further away in the distance, so we decided to leave the minke whale to go investigate. When we arrived, we saw one fluking humpback whale! We patiently waited for the whale to surface again, and after a short time, we were graced with its presence once again. We watched the humpback surface many times before we had to start heading towards the harbour. On the way back, we spotted yet another minke whale and this time we were able to spend a little more time with it! What a great ending to a great tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:OO
Report from Eldey: Our tour began with a smooth rain and a fresh air, which made most of the passengers prefer to be inside, where they could take advantage of our cozy, warm decks, and of the hot drinks sold at our onboard cafeteria. But, nevertheless, sea conditions were great for spotting whales, with a flat-like sea. It wasn't long until we made our first sighting, a pair of harbour porpoises, which in a quick and shy way, appeared and disappeared again from our sights. But soon after, we came across another species, a large minke whale, which confidently surfaced various times, near our boat. Throughout the trip, we came across various other whales of the same species. But, close to the end of our journey, we were surprised by a third species, a humpback whale, which entertained our guest with its gorgeous fluke, in various dives. We then headed back to Reykjavík, with a feeling of satisfaction, and the company of various marines birds, like the puffins, northern fulmars and artic terns.
