CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We sailed of into incredibly calm seas with a cloud covered sky above. After some searching around we found ourselves a pod of 8-10 white-beaked dolphins. This pod was very busy feeding so we got to see them go all around us, every now and then leaping out of the water. After some nice time we moved onwards to find ourselves no less than 3 minke whales. We got to stay nice and close to one of them and it was a very calm individual who surfaced often and even very close to us! our fun did not stop there however because on our way back we shortly stayed with a second pod of 4 dolphins that very curiously came to check out the boat and even though we had no time left to stop, we spotted 3 more minke whales as well! what an amazing morning this was!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey : We set off under clear skies and calm seas as we made our way toward the open waters. Early in the trip, we spotted a few puffins and encountered a minke whale that cruised alongside us for wuite a while. Eventually , another minke whale, and we spent some time opserving both as we moved gracefully through the water.Continuing our journey further offshore, we found another minke whale, along with with a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. As we began our return trip, we were delighted to spot a few more dolphins ,making our day truly special.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00
Report from Eldey: We set off with clear skies and plenty of sunshine! We traveled far out into the bay but were rewarded for our efforts when we arrived, seeing one humpback whale, two minke whales, and one pod of white-beaked dolphins! The dolphins had quite the show with many fun jumps and surrounding the boat at times! The minke was more elusive and just kept feeding paying little mind to us and surfacing to show their dorsal every so often. The humpback whale showed off its impressive tail many times which was an excellent treat! we could see its pectoral fins and it even came quite close to the boat to check us out! Everyone was around for feeding time which made for an excellent tour!

Bird species encountered today include:
Northern gannet ,Atlantic puffin, Northern fulmar, common eider, herring gull, black-backed gull, great skua ,common gull, black-legged kittiwake, common guillemot.

The Humpback Whale is quite spectacular undergoing the longest migration of any mammal (5176miles/8334km one way), attracting females by singing to them and of course their energetic nature. On many occasions humpbacks have been seen breaching, tail slapping, fin slapping, blowing bubbles and spy hopping just to mention a few. The humpback is also one of the larger whales we encounter

The Minke Whale is the most common whale around Iceland and actually the world thus it is one of the main species we encounter on our whale watching tours. It is one of few species that don’t mind coming to shallower waters like here in Faxaflói Bay to feed on the abundant food available to them.

The white-beaked dolphin is the most common dolphin found in the surrounding waters of Iceland and is seen not only in the summer but winter too usually in larger numbers, hundreds sometimes. When feeding they show energetic behaviour such as breaching out of the water and coming down with a big splash and bursts of fast swimming.
