  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00, 14:00

Today's Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we sailed out onto a calm beautiful sea, there was little wind and little clouds though we did get the occasional random raindrop. As we sailed out we spotted 4-6 harbour porpoises. However as they can be a little skittish we continued onwards, watching them swim past us. After another hour or so we spotted a pod of 4 white beaked dolphins. This pod was very calm and did not come up for us again, but we did spot another pod of 7-8 further out and went over to investigate! This pod was much friendlier, came very close to the boat and even bow-rid a little! We saw them a few times before having to continue onwards. Then after another short sail we spotted a big blow and a humpback whale! This was also a very calm individual, we stayed together a little bit and even saw the fluke each time it went down! We did sadly run out of time so had to return home, this time in the sunshine!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: So for the last time (for me)... we set off with a little bit of rain. We travelled around the bay for quite a long time with no signs of cetaceans. We stopped a couple of times, once when we could smell a whale nearby but nothing surfaced and then again when in a huge flock of Arctic terns but again nothing bigger. Then finally a small pod of 3-4 white beaked dolphins appeared! They were quite shy though not really coming up too much and swimming slowly. So we left them be to not disturb them. Then not too long later a big blow appeared not far from us. It was a humpback whale! It was the same one as in the morning and was coming up lots, and it was only taking fairly quick dives. We had a really nice look at the fluke too! After this we headed home enjoying our ride back . So that is also the end of my time at Elding as well so a big thank you to everyone I've worked with in the these last few years and had the pleasure to be on tours with!
