CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in the sunny afternoon. The sea was calm and our spirits were high! After a while a big blow appear in the distance. We investigated the spout and found a humpback whale. It got quite close to the boat and put on a show with some nice fluke dives. The sea was so calm that the white pectorial fins were very visible. After spending some time with this wonderful individual, we slowly started to head back to the harbour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: This morning we woke up with the perfect conditions for whale watching, there was no wind, the sun was shining and the ocean was surprisingly flat. We began the tour with a very beautiful minke whale that stayed with us for quite some time. Then, we continued sailing and in the distance we saw the dorsal fin of another minke whale. However, this time we didn't stop since we saw the blows of a humpback whale far away. The humpback welcomed us showing us its beautiful pectoral fins doing some pec slaps. We slowly followed it for some time before it was time to go back to the port.

The Minke Whale is the most common whale around Iceland and actually the world thus it is one of the main species we encounter on our whale watching tours. It is one of few species that don’t mind coming to shallower waters like here in Faxaflói Bay to feed on the abundant food available to them.
