CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We sailed out in the cloudy Faxafloi bay this morning, hoping to see the same species as yesterday. Sadly, much like our last tour the previous night, most reported sightings for other ships were far West, meaning we had to sail for a lot of time. Arriving to the spot of interest, we encountered a pod of 6 white beaked dolphins, which stayed under water for long periods, probably feeding. As we headed away to look for other sightings, we found ourselves, much like all the other boats, with nothing to see, with only 1 minke whale passing by, too quick for anyone but the crew to see. Continuously scanning, we headed back to the harbor. To our big surprise, we found a humpback whale close to Reyjavik, fully resting, only coming up and down to breath calmly, finishing our tour on a positive note.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 11:00
Report from Háfsulan: Our tour could be summarized into two words, "relaxing" and "majestic". We sailed into the ocean with great sea conditions. small waves and good visibility. This allowed our passengers and crew to have a comfortable journey and favourable conditions for finding wildlife. Indeed, it didn´t take long until we came across our first whale, a humpback whale. This whale was slowly and calmly travelling through the bay's shallow waters. While we were looking at this individual, a second species showed up, catching us by surprise. This was a minke whale, which surfaced very close to the humpback. We eventually left these two alone, as we wanted to avoid disturbing them by staying too long in their presence. However, soon after leaving them,we found a second humpbac whale, which was very calm and curious, approaching our boat multiple times. We eventually came back to Reykjavík, highly satisfied with this tour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We headed out on calm seas. After our morning tour we had high hopes of finding the humpback whale close to the harbour. However, the whale proved to be more elusive than we originally thought. We set our course north west with confidence of finding whales. After continuing our course for an extended amount of time we saw a blow to the south. It happened to be a humpback whale. We stayed for a little while, but not to overcrowd the whale we wanted to find a different individual. On our way we found 8 harbour porpoises. A breaching whale appeared which gave us quite a show. It did some fluke dives and then we found a third one also showing us its tail. All in all a beautiful tour and the passengers were thrilled.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR 15:00
Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out into Faxaflói Bay for another tour with great weather, providing good conditions for finding whales. However, it took us longer than the previous tour to find them, as the whales seemed to have moved further offshore. Eventually, we did come around a humpback whale, which surfaced multiple times near our ship, providing a wonderful display to our passengers. After spending a bit less than half an hour with this whale, we moved on with our journey. Funny enough, when we where almost arriving to Reykjavík, we were surprised with a quick sighting of 6 harbour porpoises, which passed by us at high speed, continuing their journey. We eventually returned to the harbour, satisfied with the wildlife encounters we had at sea.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00
Report from Eldey: Sailing out for the last time today, we headed back to the zones of previous sightings, as they were abundant with entertaining individulas. There, we found a humpback whale, who gave us the pleasure of multiple fluke dives. Later on, we found 2 pods of 14 white beaked dolphins, who roamed around us for a long time, back and forth feeding around our boat. We ended up going back to our humpback friend for a couple of last dives, before leaving back to the harbor after a great day.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 20:30
Report from Hafsulan: This evening we started the first midnight tour of the season very excited. The conditions were perfect. It was sunny, no wind and the ocean was flat. We sailed out with the beautiful landscape and the sunset ahead of us, and it didn't take us long to find the first humpback whale. We stayed with it for a while and took some very nice pictures of its fluke. Then, we headed towards the second humpback whale that was quite hungry since we even observed it lunge feeding. Finally, we went back to the port happy with all the things we have seen and our galleries full of pictures.
