CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: An unforgettable day. We sailed under cloudy skies and smooth seas with direction to the open waters. There we spotted our first 2 humpback whales that they where really slow and gentle. They where resting together. We let them in peace and continued our journey. Soon we realized that on this area they were at least 6 humpback whales that we stayed with them for the rest of the time. While we were enjoying and observing the humpback whales,  a minke whale popped up several times. On our way back we completed and show all the species that are common visitors of Faxafloi bay with first 5 harbor proposes  and later on at least 8 white beaked dolphins that where coursing and jumping around us.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00

Report from Hafsúlan: today we started our tour with a bit of cold winds, but far out in the bay there was no wind at all! After about an hour of sailing, we saw many flocks of birds feeding, close to small fishing vessels. Seconds later, we spotted a blow not too far: a humpback whale! Coming closer, we realized it was not alone at all. We had a pair of humpies swimming side by side. We stayed a bit longer with them since we were the only boat around and headed o another area, just to spot another pair of blows 2 minutes later! With 2 more humpbacks, this time coming closer and closer, we were very amazed! One of them, a whale that we already knew called Davy Jones was so close that people needed to lean to spot it from the upper deck. We then continued our trip to spot 2 more humpbacks, not side by side but less than 200m close to each other. One was going for beautiful fluke dives while the other one was logging. It seemed like they were all with their besties today! We then said goodbye to them and headed to Reykjavík, very happy after seeing 6 different humpies!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: What another great tour continuing the already amazing sightings we saw this morning. On the way out we came across a pod of four white beaked dolphins. They were not very interested in us so we continued our search. In total we had six humpback whales! We got quite the treat with a ton of fluke dives from our first humpback. We then came across a very sleepy humpback whale which was a real joy as they were resting on the surface and we got incredible views of their pectorals and were able to enjoy how relaxed they were. We then continued onward and had two individuals feeding together which was really lucky for us to see continuous views as when one went down the other would surface. At this point we had blows all around the boat at various distances; flukes galore! As we waved our humpbacks goodbye and set sail for port we saw another pod of three white beaked dolphins who were also not too interested so we kept going. We saw a nice surface sequence from one minke whale as well as two harbor porpoises on our journey back! Both species gave us a quick surface before we waved them goodbye and head back to port. A really incredible tour!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 15:00

Report from Hafsúlan: What an amazing tour! The afternoon started with a slight rain but great sea conditions. We started or tour sailing into the bay and just 20 minutes later we spotted a minke whale! It resurfaced twice before it disappeared into the ocean. But just a bit in front we spotted a friendly pod of 7 white-beaked dolphins coming super close to our boat! We sailed a bit further and we started seeing some blows in the distance there were about 7 humpback whales around us! We saw some big splashes and we hurried there as a whale was breaching! Then some pec slapping and some more jumps out of the water! Amazing! We started our way back to the harbour as time was starting to run out but we still had time for a few more minutes with a pair of humpbacks that fluked super close to the boat! A fantastic afternoon at sea!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR 17:00

Report from Eldey: What an amazing tour. We sailed out with calm seas and cloudy skies with course to the open waters. On our way we spotted our first minke whale that we observed for some time and continued our way to search for something bigger. It did took a long until we spotted our first humpback whale. Breached and flipper slapped its fins multiple times, leaving us speechless. After this show we continued to another humpback whale that it was bubble-net feeding less than a mile away.On our whay back we spotted another minke whale and at least 10 jumping white beaked dolphins that made our tour even better.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 20:30

Report from Háfsulan: This evening we were extremely lucky with the weather. There was no windy, the ocean was flat and the sky had just the right amount of clouds so that we could enjoy a beautiful sunset while sailing west. However, the weather wasn't the only thing we were lucky with. After some time sailing we arrived to an amazing area. There were at least 6 humpback whales around us, we were surrounded by blows. Also, a large pod of around 25 white-beaked dolphins came here to feed. They also came close to the boat so we could get a clear view of them. Then, a humpback started to do some really cool bubble nets and lunge feeding, making a spectacular show. Everyone enjoyed the view of this beautiful but intelligent behavior. Sadly, we had to go back to the harbour. But, we all came back home with a beautiful memory of this evening.
