Today is the International Day for Women in Maritime!
At Elding Whale Watching Reykjavik and our sister companies Whale Watching Akureyri and Whale Safari, women are truly at the helm - quite literally! We are incredibly proud to be one of the few companies in Iceland where eight of our captains are women, along with around 25 female crew members who steer, navigate, and ensure the safety of both passengers and nature with professionalism and passion.
What’s more, the CEOs of all three companies are women - a rare and inspiring example of female leadership in the maritime industry.
Women play a key role in every aspect of our operations, both at sea and on land. They share their knowledge, lead by example, and show that the ocean belongs to everyone - regardless of gender.
We proudly celebrate this day and encourage more women to follow in the footsteps of those paving the way in the maritime world.
The Elding team is built on strong family ties and lasting friendships. Over the years, three generations have worked alongside a dedicated group of colleagues to shape Elding into what it is today. We take great care in recruiting and training new team members, valuing knowledge, experience, and a deep respect for nature.
