Ricardo de Almeida Mendes

Ricardo has a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSea Master's). He started working with wild animals in Cape Verde, where he was a volunteer for a loggerhead turtle conservation project. After his bachelor's, he joined the Icelandic Orca Project, where he did an internship in 2022, which revealed him to a passion for cetaceans that he never knew he had. From then on, he has worked in whale-watching in mainland Portugal, the Azores and now, in Iceland.

Working in Elding has been an experience for which I am very gratefull. It allowed me back to this majestic country and to work at sea with whales and dolphins. The team is also great and I have made many good friends in here. Definitely a company I would recommend to any young biologist looking to gain some good life and work experience.

Ricardo's nationality is Cape Verdean (and Portuguese) and he speaks fluent Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, Spanish and English.
