Jakob Freyr is a third generation member of the Elding family. Like his brother Grétar Snær, he has worked on and off over the years as part of the crew and in maintenance, often alongside their father, Sveinn Ómar. These hands on experiences fostered a deep understanding of the company’s operations from an early age.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Reykjavík and is now focused on modernising the fleet and driving the shift towards hybrid propulsion - a part of Elding’s commitment to innovation and sustainability at sea.
Jakob Freyr is Icelandic and speaks fluent Icelandic and English.
